LEICESTER, England — Ole Gunnar Solskjaer challenged his Manchester United team to improve ahead of a difficult run of fixtures, despite recording a ninth win in 10 games in charge with victory at Leicester. Marcus Rashford’s early goal was enough to earn a 1-0 win at the King Power Stadium on Sunday but Solskjaer wasn’t completely satisfied ahead of games against Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Liverpool in three different competitions before the end of February. “We weren’t happy at half time, I don’t think we can be too happy with the performance and that’s a good thing,” said Solskjaer, who flew to France immediately after the game to watch Champions League opponents PSG face Lyon on Sunday night. “We know we’ve got plenty of things to work on and I think we’ll see that progression in the next few weeks because it’s going to be a tough and enjoyable February.” After the disappointment of the 2-2 draw with Burnley at Old Trafford on Tuesday, United bounced back against Leicester to keep themselves firmly in the race for the top four. Solskjaer’s team needed two good saves from David De Gea and some strong defending to record a first clean sheet since Jan.13 and ensure a fifth successive away win for the first time since 2012. “When you’re 1-0 up anything can happen in that box and I think that Harry Maguire has got a magnet on his head because it always dropped to him,” Solskjaer said. “Our lads, they blocked, they put their bodies on the line so it was a fantastic effort and they were fighting for each other.” Solskjaer welcomed back Anthony Martial into the squad after injury but with the Frenchman only fit enough for a place on the bench, the United caretaker handed Alexis Sanchez a first Premier League start since Nov. 3. Sanchez was substituted after 67 minutes after a subdued performance but afterwards, Solskjaer was keen to defend the 30-year-old. “He’s played well today,” Solskjaer said. “I don’t think there’s any problem with his confidence, I thought he did well.” Photo Credit: Getty
